PICME Login – The main objective of the Department of Public Health & Preventive Medicine is to provide quality primary health care services to the public. Providing maternal and child health care, prevention and control of communicable and non-communicable diseases are major components.
Now, under this department, the districts are designated as health unit districts and some of the larger districts have been divided into two for administrative reasons. Each health unit is functioning under the technical and administrative control of a Deputy Director of the District Health Service. Each health unit district consists of an average of 30-40 primary health centers.

Primary health centers have been established at the rate of one per 30,000 rural population in the plains and one per 20,000 population in the hilly areas. Each PHC is functioning with at least two medical officers supported by a team of field health workers.
Each primary health center has an average of 5 to 6 health sub-centres. These have been set up at the rate of one per 5000 rural population in the plains and one per 3000 rural population in the hilly areas.

Pregnant and Infant Cohort Monitoring and Evaluation (PICME 2.0)
Introduction
In 2008, PICME was developed by the National Informatics Center of the Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, now it has been renamed as ‘PICME 2.0’ with new updated modules. PICME captures over 11 lakh AN mothers annually.
User ID and Password have been given to 8713 VHNs in rural areas and 1846 UHNs in urban areas, and Institutional Delivery Entry login has been provided to all Government Health Institutions to enter their delivery data.
Objective:
To provide continual antenatal care services to pregnant/lactating mothers and baby.
To reduce maternal mortality and infant mortality.
Tracking and timely interventions of high risk mothers.
Benefit payable to whom:
All citizens of Tamil Nadu.
Geographical Expansion:
Entire Tamil Nadu is covered both in rural and urban areas.
Web-Portal Summary:
The PICME 2.0 web portal captures the details of pregnant women from eligible couple registration till the child reaches the age of 16 years through Village Health Nurse/ Urban Health Nurse.
- Each mother is given a unique ID which is called RCH ID.
- The Tamil Nadu government has made it mandatory for all pregnancies to be registered in this system.
- The Birth Certificate will be issued only if the RCH ID is available with the mother.
- Using this number, the details of the mother can be seen at any level.

Registration of pregnancy
- By contacting the Village Health Nurse directly
The pregnant mother can register her pregnancy by contacting the village health nurse/urban health nurse of her area.
After confirmation of pregnancy, the Village Health Nurse / Urban Health Nurse will enter the collected details in the PICME software and give RCH ID to the expectant mother.
After completion of registration, an SMS will be sent to the mobile number of the mothers. The Tamil Nadu government has made it mandatory to register all pregnancies and give RCH ID for registration of births.
Even if the mother does not have RCH ID at the time of delivery, she will have to register at least immediately after delivery and submit the RCH ID to the hospital concerned.

If the expectant mother is new to the area and is not able to contact the area village health nurse / urban health nurse, she can pre-register her pregnancy by using the following methods. An SMS will be sent to the mother’s mobile with the pre-registration details.
(A) through online:
Pre-registration of pregnancy can be done by mother herself by visiting https://picme.tn.gov.in and entering required details.
(b\B) Through e-Service Centres:
The expectant mother can contact the nearest e-Seva Kendra and register her pregnancy for free.
(C) Through Call Center (102):
An expectant mother can call on the toll free number “102” and pre-register her pregnancy.
(D) through Government Hospitals:
The expectant mother can contact the nearest government hospital and get her pregnancy registered in advance.
An SMS will be sent to the registered mobile number on completion of pre-registration. The pre-registration details will be sent to the concerned Village Health Nurse/Urban Health Nurse and in turn they will contact the mother and register her. The mother will be given RCH.ID on completion of registration.

SMS will be sent from time to time on the mobiles of mothers reminding them of the services availed by the mother/child.
The software is linked to State Birth and Death Software (CRS). Soon after the RCH ID is generated, the PICME software will share the RCH ID with the Birth and Death Registration Server. Similarly, whenever a birth is registered, the Birth Registration Number is shared by the Birth and Death Registration Server with the PICME Login Server.

The old PICME portal has been changed to the new PICME login page. So in order to open the official PICME-Login portal, here is what you need to do –
How to login in the PICME login page?
- Visitors picme.tn.gov.in
Firstly, you have to open [picme tn gov in] website. On the website, locate User Login Form.
- Go to Picme Login form
Now, you have to navigate the cursor to the user login form you see in front. Make sure that you have already registered before login.
- Enter your PICME login ID or User ID
Now, in the first box of PICME login form, enter your User ID.
- Enter the Password and Captcha code
Once you have entered your Login ID, in the second box enter your PICME Login Password. After entering the PICME Login Username and Password, enter the captcha code that is shown there.
- Click on the submit button to login.
Now, re-check all the details you have filled and move your cursor to the bottom of the page. Click on the submit button and you will be logged in.
